Hee! I sympathize.
From besttweets dot com: I thought the label said "omg caffeine," but it actually said "0mg caffeine." And now I have a headache.

</form> Neutral. Not Northern, Southern, or Western, just American. Your national American identity is more important to you than your local identity, because you don't really have a local identity to begin with. Take this quiz now - it's easy!

From a post by exceptindreams
I'd heard the last part of this poem before, but never knew the source. So beautiful...
“Sonnet XVII: Love” Pablo Neruda
I don't love you as if you were the salt-rose, topaz or arrow of carnations that propagate fire: I love you as certain dark things are loved, secretly, between the shadow and the soul. I love you as the plant that doesn't bloom and carries hidden within itself the light of those flowers, and thanks to your love, darkly in my body lives the dense fragrance that rises from the earth.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where, I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I don't know any other way of loving
but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close.

I've just finished my take-home final. Two essays that I hope will be good enough. I can finally get back into my SGA fandom, but there's SO MUCH I've missed! *flails in the general direction of mcshep_awards and sga_santa*
Also? I have 6 days to get into Christmas. Help!

From here http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/06/congress.hatecrimes.ap/index.html Congress drops hate crime bill covering attacks on gays The bill, sponsored by Sen. Edward Kennedy, was widely supported by Democrats and even some moderate Senate Republicans. But because it was attached to a major defense policy bill that would have authorized more money for the Iraq war, many anti-war Democrats said they would oppose it.
So, they'll try again and eventually it will pass, but next time, people, do NOT attach it to a defense spending bill. OK? OK.

Just found this on the lj support page: We are aware that many people are not receiving comment notifications. However, almost all of the reports are coming from people who use certain email providers, and one of these providers is Hotmail. ( Read more... )

gacked from synecdochic This is something that made me feel like I was actually making a difference. Kiva is a micro-loan organizer. Their website says:
"Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can "sponsor a business" and help the world's working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you've sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back."
You can loan as little as $25 to people in need in countries where people are struggling to eke out a living. As your lendee repays the money, you can either take it back, or send it to someone else.

My husband and kids took me to Maine for the weekend for an early birthday gift. Nice beachfront place, pool and hot tub! This was our first hotel stay in 4 years and it was fun.
Now, on Thursday I'm accompanying my dad to Atlanta for his Navy reunion. I've never been to Georgia and I haven't been on a trip with my dad since I was 14, so I'm looking forward to it. If you have any suggestions for places to see in Atlanta, please let me know! There's a couple of reunion events lined up, but I think we'll have a couple of afternoons free.
Behind the cut are photos of the sunrise over Wells Beach, Maine on Saturday morning. :) ( Read more... )
